Code of Conduct

Interactive Audio Montreal - Code of Conduct

The present set of rules and guidelines are intended to ensure that community discussions within Interactive Audio Montréal (IAM) are welcoming to all, and provide value for those taking part.

Interactive Audio Montreal aims to provide a harassment-free space for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion or otherwise.

Unwanted behaviors include, but are not limited to:

- Offensive, derogatory, aggressive comments

- Any form of persistent verbal abuse, micro-agressions, inappropriate jokes or invasive comments.

- Disruption of events, programs, or space functionality

- Inappropriate physical contact

- Unwelcome sexual attention

- If someone communicates discomfort, you are under the obligation to respect their personal space, be it physical or emotional.

These rules have been left intentionally vague to accommodate a wide range of situations and contexts. Anyone who violates this safer space policy may be sanctioned, expelled, or banned from these spaces at the discretion of the team.

Conclusion

Despite our best intentions, sometimes we are either unaware of certain issues or have inconsiderate moments. Not everyone feels safe under the same conditions, safety is relative. Having clear guidelines encourages mindfulness about these possibilities.
