For now, IAM only works on bringing this series of events but also work in collaboration with Game Audio de Québec to produce the Game Audio Shack event. For now, these are the only event series that IAM is working on but some spontaneous events or collaborations have happened in the past and might happen again.

All IAM@CIRMMT events are hosted at (you guessed it) CIRMMT !
You can find CIRMMT at 527 Rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montréal, QC H3A 1E3
Room A-832/833 is where we are usually at and it is on the 8th floor. As you exit the elavator, it's at the end of the hallway to your right.
IAM does host other events from time to time (like the Game Audio Shack) and it's possible that a IAM@CIRMMT event could change room, so please refer to the event page itself to confirm.

Yes ! Though make sure to follow the below rules and double check each event announcement to make sure that we were able to secure a liquor permit for the event. It's always possible that we are not able to get one for some reason (though very unlikely).
Here are the ground rules :
No alcohol is sold on site, you can (and should) bring your own
CANS CANS CANS, as-in we rather you don't bring any glass containers
All "types" of liquor is allowed, but again AVOID GLASS CONTAINERS ;)
Be careful with your drinks and keep them in sight to avoid any mishaps or messes
Don't leave your containers lying around after the event #Recyle #KeepTheRoomClean
This goes without saying but don't give alcohol to minors and consumption is prohibited if you are under 18 years of age

We are still open to having some in the future but this will be more spontaneous as the way things we're done in the past it took quite of lot of time for us to handle since this event is a labor of passion in our spare time we decided to put this on pause for now.

Most of our conferences are done in English but if the speaker is a local speaker we allow them to speak in the language of their choice. If the talk is to be 100% in French, we would announce it before hand on the event page.
Questions can be asked in French if the speaker is local and is confortable with that, we will mention it on site before the talk if that is not the case.

The website is pretty much the most up to date place for news, since attendee surveys showed that social media is not the most used way of keeping in touch with IAM we don't prioritize that way of announcing event but we still make sure to announce as much as we can on our social media channels.

For each event, one of the best ways to help is to help with the room placement and cleanup. Although this might not be the most glamourous, IAM is lucky to have attendees who help with this at every event and this insures that no extra work remains at the end of the night for the organizers. Those who arrive a bit early can also help prep the room by moving the tables and chairs in place.
Donations help with purchasing gear, getting more speakers to travel to come to us and in some events provide food and beverages for attendees. All funds gathered are used for IAM and IAM only.

Unfortunately these types of events (although very useful for newcomers to the industry) are not what we target in terms of presentations.
The idea that IAM provides deep and unique learning opportunities through it's presentations and networking opportunities with the meetups and casual drinks portion of the events.

Short answer is : Yes.
Nuanced answer is : No, but please get one anyways.
Basically if you don't plan to drink any alcolhol, you technically don't need one, but it still helps us IMMENSLY if you do get a ticket, boose or no boose.
If you do plan to drink, YES then, get a ticket. Any alcohol related incident for anyone that did not have a ticket will result in said person besoming excomunicado like in the movie John Wick.
Ok, like, not really excummunicado exactly but you get the idea... get a ticket if you plan to drink alcohol.
